17/18 June, 2004
May 14, 2004

For the second time, Dr. Haluk Gursel and Michael Martinez Ferber are designated to hold a workshop at the congress in Cracow.

Honorary Patrons of the congress are Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, Vice President of the EBRD in London (previous President of the National Bank of Poland) and Jan Krzysztof Bielecki, President of PeKaO SA (one of the biggest Polish banks) and former Prime Minister.

The topic of the workshop will be "Insolvency Fraud: Recent important caselaw in the European Union on the European Insolvency Regulation".

Insolvencies in Europe are reaching endemic proportions. Major international cases like the Philipp Holzmann Group insolvency are coming up. Along with, fraudulent insolvencies are becoming a more and more frequent topic and no corporation or even group seems to be in the shelter or "too big to fail".

To cope with the growing demands and requirements of today's business environment, the EU has created a European Insolvency Regulation which came into effect on 31 May 2002 and is applicable in the Accessing Countries.

Case law in Europe (these rules is being collected on www.cimejes.com), data and knowledge base of the cases are vital for insolvency trustees, bankers, government officials and fraud hunters.

This mini training session includes a discussion of the most important caselaw in Europe including the famous "Daisytek" and "Parmalat/Eurofood"-cases as well as useful tips for international co-operation between courts, authorities, banks, trustees and fraud-hunters.

Dr.Haluk Gursel, President, Switzerland Chapter, ACFE: moderator
